I shot these piglets at Babcock Ranch on an eco tour the Englewood Camera Club took this morning.

Curves
I shot this image at the Hooters Pro Rodeo in Fort Myers yesterday. Unlike the big rodeos in Arcadia, the ones at this venue are completely outdoors, with plenty of natural light. This was shot with my Canon 5D Mark iv, 70-200 f4 lens at 1/5000 second, f4, ISO 200. This was shot at theContinue reading “Curves”
F is for Feathers
This image was shot last week at Myakka River State Park at high noon. I know you’re “not supposed” to shoot birds at that time of day, but I am not a birder. I’m just happy to shoot whenever the opportunity presents itself. Serendipitously, the harsh light created a really interesting shadow under the bird’sContinue reading “F is for Feathers”
Something Blue
Little blue egret at Ding Darling this morning. (I think he was taking shelter from the cold and wind.) Canon 5D Mark IV with 100-400 L lens, f. 5, 1/2500 sec. ISO 640. I needed to use the radial filter in Lightroom to add light and open up the shadows on the egret.
Eagle’s Nest, Venice
My husband and I stop by the eagle’s nest in Venice at least once a week. This weekend we finally caught a glimpse of the baby, but you can be sure the mother was in the tree keeping watch. Canon 5D Mark IV with 100-400 L at 400mm. f 5.6, 1/1600 sec, ISO 1000.
Macro in Black and White
Shot in Mabel’s Rose Garden at the Ringling Museum. 5D Mark IV, 100 2.8 IS Macro lens at f 3.5, 1/2500 sec., ISO 500. The wind was fierce; hence the high shutter speed.
View of Boats and Sarasota Skyline from City Island
Another windy day in Sarasota, good for sailing. Shot with Canon 5D Mark IV and 24-105 lens. f8, 1/800 sec., ISO 250.

This photo of an egret catching a snake is one of a series of about two dozen images depicting their life and death struggle. At one point the snake succeeded in biting the egret, and the bird let go – only to recover and retrieve his prey. Note the spirals on the snake’s belly. ShotContinue reading “January 9, 2020”
Holiday Lights Revisited
Once the grandkids were in bed on Christmas Eve, I took out my old camera, a Canon 6D, with the new Sigma 35 mm Art Lens attached, and played with settings and composition. Handheld, I moved the camera in different directions and chuckled at what I’d captured. This is my favorite, shot at f2, .8Continue reading “Holiday Lights Revisited”

This photo represents both the themes of Joy and Red. The two girls are my granddaughters, excited to see The Sound of Music and celebrate my husband’s birthday.
